We're always checking in with the our youth members to learn about their experiences at The Door. Here's a sampling of what they have to say:

"I love The Door because it's a great place to hang out. I've been a member for 5 years and I have referred many of my friends who have also become members. In the winter it's a warm place to hang out plus there's a free meal (supper) and healthy snacks daily. When I have trouble with homework I can get help. There are lots of other great activities including movies, pool and internet for Facebook. You can also volunteer at The Door. Since I'm in the General Learning Program I don't have to do 40 hours of volunteer work, but I do help out when I can. The staff at The Door are awesome! The greatest thing is that everyone respects everyone. You should join The Door!"

"I've been a member of The Door for 5 years. I come here because there are great benefits. There are more options for things to do when hanging out at The Door as opposed to hanging out at the mall. You can hang out with friends and meet new people. They have free workshops like art, science and specialty groups like yoga. The Door has great staff and the members are respectful and helpful. Staff are willing to listen and are very resourceful in seeking out help for you if you need it. I think of The Door as my second home. They make me feel confident; I'm never judged and the social groups are diverse and integrated. It's family at The Door. You should join, for there's no place like it!"

" I've been a member for 2 years. I love ping pong and hanging out with friends, both of which I can do at The Door. The Door has also provided me with the opportunity to fulfill my mandatory 40 volunteer hours for high school; I've even completed additional hours. These extra hours will give me an advantage in the future when applying for highly competitive courses or jobs. My goal is to get 100 hours of volunteer work completed. There are interesting workshops at The Door like 'Let's Talk Science - DNA' and my favourite so far the 'Meet a Professional Ping Pong Player' workshop. I can talk to staff when I have a problem. The Door is a fun place to hang around with lots of interesting things to do."

"I come to The Door because the people here are very nice, friendly and respectful. Everything is free and The Door has really good food! At The Door there are so many things to do including games and computers with internet access. You can watch movies and TV shows like Jersey Shore. You can also get homework help. I come to The Door because other places don't have everything that The Door has. It's safe and also I can get my volunteer hours. Right now I'm getting my volunteer hours by helping out with the art program; I get to draw and paint, it's lots of fun!"

"I love coming to The Door, there's a lot of good things here. Like playing pool, computers with internet, you get to meet new people and make new friends. You can also volunteer at the front desk or help out in the kitchen. There are also specialty programs like art. There are people that can help you with your homework so that you can still come to The Door. I have been coming to The Door for 2 years. There are a lot of activities like people coming to teach fun science experiments. The food is great and also it's free. There's air hockey that you can play plus a whole lot more. Come check it out, bring your friends!"

"I've been a member for 1 month. I've come to love The Door because I can express myself and not be judged. It's so fun, especially the fact that I can learn music. My favourite are the guitar lessons but there are also piano lessons."
